Persib Bandung chief denies Robin van Persie link

Persib Bandung commissioner Zainuri Hasyim has turned down speculation linking former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie with a move to the club. The Netherlands international had recently emerged as a surprise target for the Indonesian outfit, who have endured a poor season in the first edition of the Liga 1.

Speaking to reporters, Hasyim stressed that the club will have to evaluate their season, while also dismissing talk of Van Persie making the switch to the Far East, he said: "I do not know about [the van Persie] issue, and there is no such news on him here. The media can write about anything they want, but there are no issues on Robin van Persie here. We will gather first to discuss who the coach and local players [which will be maintained] including the evaluation of the competition yesterday [this season]. Then [in the meeting] preparing for next year, we will get together first, the faster the better."

Robin van Persie and OguzhanOzyakup still keep a distance from each other

Besiktas midfielder OguzhanOzyakup reveals he continues to maintain a distance with former Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie following the veteran's behaviour in a Turkish Cup game last term.

The 34-year-old bagged the sole goal in the 1-0 win over Besiktas in the round of 16 in February and he shortly after slid in front of Ozyakup to celebrate his goal.

Since then, Van Persie has received plenty of stick from the Besiktas fans including Ozyakup's wife, and the 25-year-old admits that they are yet to patch up, he told Socrates magazine: "We still do not talk, usually players make up after games but this was different. Maybe we will make up one day but it will not be the same as before. I do not really want to talk about this to be honest. I do not think I was in the wrong, if anything I was wrong to show Robin as much respect as I did."
