AUBAMEYANG CLOSING IN ON RVP RECORD

Arsenal skipper Pierre-EmerickAubameyang is closing in on the Premier League record currently held by Robin Van Persie (RVP) for the most goals scored at the Emirates Stadium. Robin Van Persie scored 46 Premier League goals for Arsenal before he left for Manchester United in 2002. The Red Devils paid around £24m to secure his transfer from Arsenal.


Gabonese international Aubameyang is now within three goals of Robin Van Persiein Premier League terms at the Emirates Stadium after he found the back of the net for the fourth successive home league gameagainst Aston Villa on Friday night. His goal against Villa took his Premier League tally at the Emirates Stadium to 43 goals.

Aubameyang started the run of four goals in four successive home games at the Emirates Stadium with the Norwich City game. The Gabonese striker scored the only goal at the midpoint of the second half to give the Gunners a 1-0 win over theCanaries.

Arsenal skipper Aubameyang then scored the second goal in the North London Derby win over Tottenham Hotspur to make it two goals in two Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium. He was one of the goalscorers as Arsenal beat Spurs 3-1 to claim a second successive victory at home.
Aubameyang scored the opening goal of the game in the London Derby draw with Crystal Palace to continue his good form at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. Arsenal and the Eagles played out a 2-2 draw. The Gabonese striker made it four goals in four straight Premier League games with the second goal in the 3-1 win over Villa. Aubameyang scored the second Arsenal goal against Villa with the rebound from his saved penalty. Villa shot stopper Emiliano Martinez saved his penalty but he was on hand to score the rebound to double the Gunners lead. Arsenal were given a penalty via VAR for the foul on French international Alexandre Lacazette by Villa left-back Matt Targett.
