Manchester United has defeated West Ham United in a Premier League match played at Old Trafford on Wednesday. United won the match by 1-0. This was United’s 11th victory in the League.

This victory helped United maintain its no. 1 status in the points table. United has won 11 out of the 14 matches that it has played in the League so far and it currently has 33 points. Manchester United is just one point ahead of Manchester City which is at the second position in the points table.

Robin Van Persie was the hero of the victory Manchester United against West Ham. He scored the only goal for United in the 31st second of the match. This was the fastest goal scored by a player in the ongoing Premier League. This was Van Persie’s ninth goal in the competition. He is just one goal behind Luis Suarez who is the leading goal scorer in the League.

On the other hand, this was the fifth defeat for the West Ham team in the tournament. Because of this defeat, West Ham has now moved down to no. 10 in the points table. It has 19 points in 14 matches.

In the post match press conference, the manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson said, “We had expected them to give us a tough fight. They have got a powerful line up and they have done pretty well in the League so far.”

“I think we could have scored a couple more goals in the first half. We were really fantastic in the first 45 minutes. It was just that we didn’t manage to give the finishing touches.”

“I am happy with the way defenders played in this match. We have had a few defensive issues in this season, but, not today. Today, the defenders were superb.”
