Stoke interested in Van Persie

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has dropped a hint that his team might be interested in signing former Arsenal and Manchester United striker.

He said that his team is still looking to sign a quality striker and that they are still considering different options.

Mark Hughes stated that he has always been an admirer of the Dutch forward and that having a player of this quality will be really beneficial for the team. He stated that it is dangerous to mention any name as this can cause problems for both the player and other future players that might be interested in joining the team.

Mark Hughes said that his team is still weak in attack and is still looking for a striker to improve the team. He said that talks with Berahino have stalled and that they are considering other alternatives at the moment.

When asked about Robin Van Persie, he stated that the Dutchman is an impressive player but has refused to say whether his team will be making an offer for the former Arsenal striker. He stated that it is not his policy to reveal players that they are interested in and that any announcement will be made in due course.

Mark Hughes said that Stoke City already have some great strikers at the club and that they are only looking for players that will improve the team. He admitted that Stoke City has had some problems in the past to attract the best strikers and that he want to change this during his tenure.

Mark Hughes said that the team is still interested in signing Said Berahino and that he will see how the talks go on in the next days. If there is no development, he said that the team would move on and look for alternatives.
