VAN PERSIE DOES NOT ACCEPT CRITICISM

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has gone on Twitter to deny reports he made disparaging comments about the professionalism of English footballers.

The 27-year-old striker was recently quoted as suggesting he knew of several English colleagues who enjoyed the party lifestyle too much, and that he believed their careers at the top level would be shortened because of it.

But Van Persie has now moved to distance himself from the comments, going on his Twitter account to deny he ever meant to question the professionalism of players in the Premier League, and insisting his words were taken out of context.

"Want to clear up some things. I supposed to have made comments about the lifestyle of english players. Words have been taken out of context," he wrote.
