RVP JOIN IN HEAPING PRAISE ON GERRARD

After former LA Galaxy player Steven Gerrard announced his retirement from professional football, many heaped accolades on the player.

Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie joined in praising the player for his contribution to football.

Van Persie described Gerrard as a player that made football more beautiful. The Fenerbahce star took to his personal Instagram handle to sing Gerrard’s praises.

“Even though we have played for different teams, always were opponents of each other, had good & bad tough battles on the pitch I have to say I have big respect for @stevengerrard,” RVP posted.

Both stars truly never played on a team as Van Persie played for only Arsenal and United in all of his years in England. Van Persie, who plays in Turkey, recently made a memorable Kitalararasi derby as Fenerbahce thrashed archrivals Galatasaray 2-0. Van Persie made a name in England, winning the Golden boot and he has taken his sterling goal scoring abilities that endear him to fans to Turkey.

RVP became the first player since Pierre Webo to score two goals against the city rivals. He scored the first just before the end of halftime and he added the second just before the end, meaning Fenerbahce would remain within six point of Besiktas. The fans went wild with his second goal thet sealed the game as Van Persie helped them retain bragging rights for another year, making it 17 now.

“What n incredible player he is and what a great career he has had! Its all about the game we all love so much and this game he def made it even more beautiful! #Legend #StevenGerrard,” Van Persie added in his Instagram tribute to the former Three Lions player.
