Robin van Persie’s career at the international stage is over

Truth be told, the career of Robin van Persie has been taking a downhill ever since his 2nd season with Manchester United kicked off and he was not able to replicate what he accomplished in his debut campaign with the Premier League club.

Robin van Persie was initially signed by Manchester United with the objective of seeing the Dutch attacker form an offensive partnership along with Wayne Rooney that could break through the defence of teams but this combination could never develop and Van Persie was offloaded from Manchester United after having only spent 3 seasons and being signed for a fee of £22.5 million.

After being released by Manchester United, Robin van Persie went on to join Fenerbahce where he has managed to score 10 goals in 24 appearances.

The 32 years old forward is still showing sparks of life but it hasn’t been enough to impress the head coach of Netherlands, Danny Blind who decided not to call up Robin van Persie for any of their latest matches.

Danny Blind is the head coach of Netherlands national side and he prefers to utilize other players in the attacking department of the team including performers such as: Klaas- Jan Huntelaar, Luuk de Jong, Vincent Janssen and Memphis Depay just to name a few of the players who have been featured in the latest matches of Netherlands.

Ibrahim Afellay and Wesley Sneijder are some of the senior players in Netherlands that have recently been seeing playing time for the national side as they appear to be in the plans of Danny Blind but the same cannot be said for Robin van Persie who has not attracted the attention from the 54 year old Dutch manager and it seems highly unlikely that Robin van Persie will get a chance to finish his career on a high note and perform in the upcoming 2018 World Cup.
