Fenerbahce eye Olivier Giroud as Robin van Persie replacement

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are reportedly looking into a potential deal for Arsenal's Olivier Giroud with Robin van Persie seemingly close to a reunion with Feyenoord. The France international has played second fiddle to Alexandre Lacazette for the first half of the season, and he is currently recuperating from a hamstring injury.

According to Fanatik, the Frenchman has emerged as a potential candidate for Fenerbahce, who are looking to reinforce their backline ahead of a title challenge in the latter stage of the campaign. Giroud has remained tight-lipped over his future in the past few weeks, but the outlet suggests that the Frenchman could replace Van Persie, who is likely to be offloaded in the transfer window.

Arsene Wenger suggests he may not see out his contract

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he will analyse his position with the board during the off-season despite signing a fresh two-year deal in May. The Frenchman head coach guided the Gunners to FA Cup success against Chelsea last term, and this earned him a contract extension amid immense criticism from the fans.

In an interview with BeIN Sport, Wenger admitted that he takes it upon him to discuss his future after every campaign, he said: "I said I will sit down with the board at the end of every season and see where we go from there - so that's not exactly the same."

Persib Bandung chief denies Robin van Persie link

Persib Bandung commissioner Zainuri Hasyim has turned down speculation linking former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie with a move to the club. The Netherlands international had recently emerged as a surprise target for the Indonesian outfit, who have endured a poor season in the first edition of the Liga 1.

Speaking to reporters, Hasyim stressed that the club will have to evaluate their season, while also dismissing talk of Van Persie making the switch to the Far East, he said: "I do not know about [the van Persie] issue, and there is no such news on him here. The media can write about anything they want, but there are no issues on Robin van Persie here. We will gather first to discuss who the coach and local players [which will be maintained] including the evaluation of the competition yesterday [this season]. Then [in the meeting] preparing for next year, we will get together first, the faster the better."

Robin van Persie and OguzhanOzyakup still keep a distance from each other

Besiktas midfielder OguzhanOzyakup reveals he continues to maintain a distance with former Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie following the veteran's behaviour in a Turkish Cup game last term.

The 34-year-old bagged the sole goal in the 1-0 win over Besiktas in the round of 16 in February and he shortly after slid in front of Ozyakup to celebrate his goal.

Since then, Van Persie has received plenty of stick from the Besiktas fans including Ozyakup's wife, and the 25-year-old admits that they are yet to patch up, he told Socrates magazine: "We still do not talk, usually players make up after games but this was different. Maybe we will make up one day but it will not be the same as before. I do not really want to talk about this to be honest. I do not think I was in the wrong, if anything I was wrong to show Robin as much respect as I did."

EVEN RVP CAN'T GET DUTCH BACK ON TRACK

The last time Robin Van Persie featured in the Holland International team was back in October 2015 during the Euro 2016 qualifier. Since then, two years has almost gone by and Van Persie has not featured for the team again.

However, that all ended with Holland recalling the ex-Manchester United star to the national team for their two key World Cup qualifiers, with the Oanje gathering up all their attacking arsenal to try and ensure victory.

Robin van Persie provides update on his knee injury

Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has denied suggestions that his career is over after he appeared to sustain a knee injury on international duty.

The Fenerbahce marksman returned to the Netherlands fold after a two-year absence, but he could not make much of an impression as they succumbed to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to France.

RVP IS BACK

Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie is in line for a recall to the Netherlands national side following a near two-year absence from international football. The 34-year-old was a surprise inclusion in the preliminary squad for the two key World Cup qualifier later next month.

Manager Dick Advocaat had initially pondered retirement following his managerial stint with Fenerbahce, but he was surprisingly offered the Holland job in May in order to salvage their World Cup hopes. The 69-year-old has now named an initial squad of 32 players for qualifiers next month, and he will gauge the performances of Van Persie over the next fortnight.

WENGER SAYS SANCHEZ SITUATION DIFFERENT FROM VAN PERSIE’S

Crystal Palace Weighing up Surprise Deal for Robin van Persie

Former Arsenal and Manchester striker Robin van Persie could find himself back in the Premier League this summer with Crystal Palace seemingly interested in his services.

The 33-year-old left the Red Devils for Turkish club Fenerbahce back in the summer of 2015 and has since done fairly well, although he is frustrated with the lack of regular starts.

Van Persie has managed to net 36 goals during his two-year stay in Istanbul, but he has often found himself being benched or being subbed off early in the second period. One can understand that the Dutchman no longer has the legs to pull him through 90 minutes, but the Netherlands international is unwilling to accept that as a valid reason.
