NO COMPLACENCY

Robin Van Persie has said that Manchester United players shouldn’t underestimate Liverpool in the upcoming Premier League match. The Red Devils will take on Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford.
Van Persie has been in fantastic form in the ongoing season. This is his debut season for Manchester United and in his very first season, he has proved his worth. Sir Alex Ferguson had bought him from Arsenal after paying a huge transfer fee and Persie has stood up to the expectations of his manager. He has featured for United in 21 Premier League matches so far and has scored 16 goals. Persie’s efforts have put Manchester United at the top of the points table.

United currently has 52 points which is 7 more than Manchester City and 21 more than Liverpool.
But, even after Manchester United’s strong position in the league, Van Persie has advised his teammates not to relax at this point of time.

When asked about United’s brilliant performance in the ongoing Premier League so far, Van Persie said, “We have performed amazingly well so far in the league, but, the league hasn’t yet finished. It’s not even close to being finished. It’s only the half way stage. So, we can’t afford to relax. We need to keep doing what we have been doing so far.”

When asked about the 7-point lead that United currently has over the defending Champions Manchester City, Van Persie said, “I don’t think it’s a huge lead. It’s a decent lead, but, things can change quickly if we lose 2-3 matches in a row. So, we need to be consistent in the second half of the league as well if we have to regain the title.”

When asked about the upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool, Van Persie said, “We shouldn’t take them lightly. They haven’t been consistent in this season so far, but, they are a quality side and they are capable of doing extraordinary things on the field. So, we will have to be at our best to beat them.”
